Gluteoplasty or Butt lift surgery is performed to lift and tighten sagging, lose skin on the buttocks and upper back of thighs usually the result of loosing a significant amount of weight, often after Bariatric surgery, or from aging skin. The excess skin is removed and the surrounding tissue is repositioned to create a tighter, lifted and more youthful bottom. It will also provide a more toned and smooth appearance to the upper back of thighs. In some cases where the butt is left too flat, butt implants or fat grafting or excess skin can be used to add volume and shape for a more rounded and curvier body profile. Patients find clothes fit and look better and they feel more confident with their improved body shape. The incisions are strategically placed so many patients can even wear a bathing suit without having to worry about visible scars showing.

Who is a good candidate for butt lift surgery?
A good candidate is someone who has reached and maintained their optimum weight loss goal. You should be a non smoker and in good health. The goal of the procedure is to give the body a more normal appearance.
Dr. Bray customizes each case to suit your body shape and the amount of skin and fat that needs removing. It is important that you have realistic expectations and continue to live a healthy lifestyle to maintain a stable weight.
If you have loose hanging skin in several areas from the waist down, you may want to consider a lower body lift. Extreme or quick weight loss can cause loss of elasticity in other areas of the body and face and we all lose weight in different ways so Dr. Bray can discuss options to consider that will best suit your needs.
There have been many recent advances made in post weight loss surgical techniques and body contouring procedures for both men and women. Some of these refined techniques are used for butt lift, full lower body lifts, tummy tuck, breast lift and or augmentation, thigh lift, arm lift, face lift neck lift or body contouring with liposuction. For the best outcomes it is very important to consult with a surgeon who has lots of experience with post weight loss body contouring surgeries.

Can you combine post weight loss surgeries?

Dr. Bray is a post weight loss body contouring expert with lots of experience which is very important to achieve the best outcome possible. Dr. Bray will put together a plan and surgery schedule for post weight loss surgery procedures some of which can be done in conjunction with a butt lift surgery. Dr. Bray offers some of the most innovative and sophisticated body contouring techniques and procedures that he will customize to best suit your particular needs and goals.
How long is the surgery?
Generally the procedure will take 3 – 4 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. A dressing will be placed on the incision area and you will be required to wear a compression garment to reduce swelling and help tighten the skin.
Where are the scars?
There are a couple of incision options Dr. Bray will discuss with you prior to surgery. Generally they are located near the top of the buttocks, but well within a bikini bottom where they will be hidden from view.
How long is the recovery period?
Like all surgeries, it is imperative to comply with pre and post surgery care instructions for the best outcome and recovery. Butt lift surgery requires four to six weeks for the swelling and bruising to disappear. You should not sit for at least a week after surgery. You must take care not to cause added stress to stitches and incision area. You should be able to return to work and light activities after two weeks. After five or six weeks you should be able to return to regular physical activities but it may be several months before you can exercise or do strenuous actives.
